No we don't till the ground because it disturbs the microbes and living creatures in the soil. We cover the soil with rich, organic compost.
HOW DO WE HANDLE PESTS IN OUR GARDENS?
We plant companion plants that aide in keeping pests away. For example, we plant marigolds with eggplant to help keep beetles away.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE WATERING YOUR GARDENS?
Watering with a cover of compost or hay/straw/mulch uses a lot less water. Organic matter holds a lot more water. Checking frequently to see if your garden needs water is the best thing to do. In order to do that, you move about an inch or more of the covering, then sticking your fingers into the soil to see if it is wet.
HOW BIG SHOULD WE MAKE OUR GARDEN?
The size of the garden depends on how many people are in your household and how much food you would like for it to produce for you. It also depends on what specific fruits, herbs and vegetables you would like to grow.
